Our Values

We love the girls unconditionally with no strings attached – without judgment. As God has been gracious to us, so we extend that grace to them.

Connection happens regularly and often enough to build relationships with the girls and to build trust. This trust increases our relational equity and encourages them to share their stories. As we listen to their stories, we know more how to connect them with resources that might be helpful.

Freedom to make other choices, freedom from addiction, freedom from exploitation, freedom from unhealthy relationships, and painful habits are ultimately realized with a relationship with Jesus Christ. He is the one who gives ultimate freedom and the courage to seek that freedom and the strength to live out that freedom daily.

Most of the girls live lives that are filled with crises, moving from one crisis to another. Our heart is for them to experience hope; that there is a better future for them and their children, and they can pursue their dreams with purpose, whatever those are or have been in the past.

Relating to the girls authentically, leading Springs of LIFE transparently, and being real with them and anyone else who is in contact with our outreach is essential for our integrity. As leaders and volunteers, we need to be real with the girls and real with people who connect with us. We are engaging with real women with real lives who work in the sex industry and we need to do that with integrity and grace.

Springs of LIFE Team

Springs of LIFE (SOL) consists of many moving pieces. One of those pieces is our team. Our executive Director, Cheryl, is the passion and inspiration behind SOL. Our board members, Brian, Debra, and Mikayla help make important decisions regarding SOL. Our Prayer Team Coordinator, Claire, organizes and facilitates prayer meetings for the SOL community. Mikayla, our Social Media and Community Resource Coordinator, helps connect the girls with resources in the area and connect those in the area with us. Most importantly, our prayer team covers SOL consistently with prayer and support.

Founder and Executive Director

Cheryl Martin

Cheryl founded Springs of LIFE in 2020 but has been visiting the clubs since 2012. Two women pastors and Cheryl were invited into a club by the owner. After three years, the women pastors moved onto other ministry opportunities and Cheryl continued to connect with and build relationships with the girls. In 2016, Cheryl and Brian (her husband) had the opportunity to be trained by Treasures, a nationally and internationally known outreach to women in Los Angelos and Las Vegas. In the fall of 2016, the Springs of LIFE outreach began connecting with two more local clubs.

Cheryl has a background in nursing as well as ministry and training in missions. She is passionate about women and walking with them through woundedness. Her heart is that they experience healing, wholeness, and freedom. Additionally, she and Brian were co-directors of the Baltimore Discipleship Center with Eastern Mennonite Missions, ministering together for 3 years.

Cheryl loves her flowers, vegetable garden, butterflies, and watching all the many birds that come to her bird feeders.

Board Member

Brian Martin

Brian brings over 20 years of experience in christian business entrepanourship, missions, and christian ministries. He is the owner of a local remodeling business that is built on integrity and excellence. Additionally, He and Cheryl were co-directors of the Baltimore Discipleship Center with Eastern Mennonite Missions, ministering together for 3 years. He is passionate about the church experiencing life and her true calling in Jesus.

Brian loves bee keeping, connecting with the local bee keeping community, and spending time fishing or hunting.

Board Member

Debra Franke

Debra brings a background in counseling and over 20 years of experience supporting adults in transition. In June 2023, along with Executive Director Cheryl Martin, Debra visited a similar nonprofit in Jacksonville, Florida. This experience marked her first visit to a club, sparking a passion for hands-on involvement in our outreach efforts. Since then, Debra has been visiting clubs monthly and assisting Cheryl with strategic planning and operations development.

Mikayla Martin

Mikayla is a university student pursuing a Bachelors of Political Science in International Affairs and hopes to pursue Law School in the future. Her passion is to see woman affected by human trafficking and domestic violence be free. She has completed two missionary schools with Youth With A Mission. She has been volunteering with Springs of LIFE since 2020 and joined the board in January 2024.

Mikayla loves photography (people watching), experiencing Korean and Japanese Cultures, and drinking matcha from her favorite coffee shop.

Prayer Team Coordinator and Volunteer

Claire Landes

Claire became connected with Springs of LIFE through our partner WordFM. She volunteered with WordFM until 2004 after which she was hired as their office manager and volunteer coordinator. Claire worked there for 18 years before retiring. Claire also has a history with helping to facilitate women's retreats and gatherings at East Swamp Church.
